3 Ways for Seniors to Live a Fulfilling, Purpose-Driven Life
January 11, 2022In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the most common and unfortunate myths out there regarding assisted living communities. These kinds of myths are not just annoying, but often directly harmful, as they may prevent seniors or their families from having the proper information about assisted living and other forms of senior assistance.
At Cozy Retire, we’re happy to provide not only the very best assisted living community services in Utah, but also proper information to anyone looking to learn more about this world. In today’s part two of our series, we’ll dig into a few more of the worst myths out there about our assisted living services, plus the proper information in each of these areas.
Myth #4: Residents Are Forced into Activities
While it’s absolutely true that assisted living communities like ours feature numerous opportunities to take part in various activities, no one is ever forced to participate in anything. Our residents are free to come and go as they please, and can choose to take part in as many or as few activities as they like.
The primary goal here is true independence. While residents are welcome to take part in our assisted living activities, they don’t have to in order to receive the services that they need. Rather than forcing residents into restrictive or challenging situations, we look for ways that they can continue their regular routines while still taking advantage of the services offered by an assisted living community.
Myth #5: Food is Bland and Unhealthy
Whether this myth arose from movies and TV shows or some other source, it couldn’t be further from the truth for today’s modern assisted living communities. The food served in our communities is fresh, healthy, and delicious. We have a wide variety of options to choose from, and we always work to accommodate any dietary restrictions or preferences that our residents may have.
We also encourage socializing during mealtimes, so residents can enjoy good food and conversation with friends. There’s no need to worry about having to dine alone, or eating bland food.
Myth #6: Assisted Living Communities Are Depressing
Again, this myth may have come from representations of assisted living communities in the movies, where you’ll often see these locations showcased as horrible places no one wants to be — but this is fiction, not reality. At Cozy Retire, we work hard to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our residents.
When you step into any of the communities operated by Cozy Retire, you’ll immediately feel at home — everything is designed with the comfort of our residents in mind. We also take part in various activities that are meant to help bring our residents together and create a fun and social atmosphere.
